I’m a soccer mum and apparently that makes
me even more qualified to review this 7-seater. It’s the fourth generation Hyundai Santa
Fe. The Santa Fe Highlander 7-seater sits at the
top of Hyundai’s SUV offering and it’s now packed with advanced drive assist technology
like blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, rear-cross traffic
alert, a 360 degree camera and auto parking. Exterior styling has matured. Daytime LEDs and a refreshed grill give the
Santa Fe a distinct new face. Interior design updates to the Santa Fe will
appeal to people like me. Champagne tastes on a beer budget. Or something like that. I really love this cabin. I love the way it looks and the way it feels. Things like this grey roof lining that extends
down the pillars and then you’ve got soft touch points all around the dash and even
on the doors. It’s quite a tactile place. It feels even a bit warm and moody. I think the Santa Fe has set itself apart
from the pack and dare I say ahead of the pack. They’ve made good interior design look pretty
simple. In cabin storage is excellent too. The two point two litre turbo diesel is punchy
and barrels around the suburbs with much poise. While nicely weighted steering makes you feel
connected to the road. And then there’s the question of practicality. Not all 7-seater’s are created equal. The Santa Fe sets a very good benchmark. Large door openings and really easy to fold
seats with just the touch of one button. Look how fast that was. Makes it really painless to get into the third
row. It’s not only easy to get in, it’s fairly
spacious in a knees up kind of way once you’re seated. It helps that the second row can slide forward
for more leg room. You even get dedicated fan controls. The boot is huge and it’s got great flexibility. More space and more buttons that actually
work. The Santa Fe will be put through its paces
by the whole team which always highlights our differing needs but it gets a big thumbs
up from this soccer mum with its family friendly design and looks to be proud of.
