>>JADEN. REPORTER: BUS DRIVERS, THE PUBLIC, AND OMAHA POLICE OFFICERS AND THE POLICE HELICOPTER ALL SEARCHED FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS EARLIER TONIGHT. THE WALNUT HILL FIFTH GRADER DROPPED OFF A FEW BLOCKS FROM HIS HOME. AN ALERT NEIGHBOR RECOGNIZED JADEN FROM HIS PICTURE ON THE NEWS AND CALLED 911 FOUR MILES AWAY FROM WHERE THE DRIVER LEFT HIM. OPS IS INVESTIGATING IF PROPER PROTOCOL WAS FOLLOWED. THE PROTOCOL IS THAT THERE IS A WAVE OFF SIGNAL AND THOSE BUS DRIVERS ARE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY SEE THE STUDENTS WALK UP AND GO INSIDE THE HOME. REPORTER: OPS SPOKESPERSON TELLS US THEY’RE LOOKING INTO WHY THE CURRENT ADDRESS WASN’T UPDATED AND THAT A SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER WAS WORKING ON THE SPECIAL ED BUS TODAY. POLICE TELL US JADEN IS DOING OK AFTER THE CONFUSING ORDEAL. NO ONE CAN SAY FOR SURE HOW HE ENDED UP FOUR MILES AWAY FROM THE BUS STOP. OPS SAY DISCIPLINARY ACTION AGAINST THE BUS DRIVER MAY BE TAKEN DEPENDING ON WHAT THEY FIND AS PART OF THE INVESTIGATION. AGAIN, WALNUT HILL FIFTH GRADER, JADEN OTIS IS HOME SAFE TONIGHT.
