AS MARILYN MORITZ REPORTS 2016 COULD SEE HEALTHY NUMBERS TOO FUELED BY MUCH MORE AFFORDABLE GAS PRICES. Reporter: NEVER MIND IT’S CHILLY AND DAMP, WES IS REVVING IN HIS NEW YEAR LOOKING FOR WHEELS AND DEALS. ABSOLUTELY. THAT’S WHAT DROVE US OUT HERE. Reporter: DEALERS ARE THROWING IN THOSE END OF YEAR DISCOUNTS TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEWER MODELS. EXHAUSTING. GOOD EXHAUSTING, BUT EXHAUSTING. WE WERE PROBABLY SELLING 40 TO 60 CARS EVERY SINGLE DAY. SO TO US IT FEELS LIKE IT’S OUR SUPER BOWL. WHEN ALL OF THE NATIONWIDE SALES NUMBERS ARE TALLIED, 2015 LOOKS TO BE A RECORD YEAR. A FAR CRY FROM 2009 WHEN SALES TANKED TO 10 MILLION. WHAT’S DRIVING THE SALES? AN IMPROVED ECONOMY, STILL LOW INTEREST RATES, AND THE BIGGEST FACTOR, RELATIVELY CHEAP GAS PRICES. BEFORE WE WOULDN’T CONSIDER THE BIG SUVs BUT WITH GAS PRICES DOWN WE WOULD CONSIDER IT. FRANKLIN SAID THE PRICE AT THE PUMP IS REFLECTED IN THEIR SALES. OUR TRUCKS ARE SELLING.
