GEORGIE SAYS SHE WAS ON HER WAY HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE WHEN SHE PASSED THIS INTERSECTION, HIGHWAY 62 AND ELDER LANE. SHE SAYS THE MOMENTS AFTER THE CRASH WERE TOUGH, BECAUSE LITTLE A.J. WAS LYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, NOT SURE IF HE WAS DEAD OR ALIVE.>>YOU KNOW IT IS BOUND TO BE, AND IT WAS — IT WAS SCARY , BECAUSE I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT KIND OF SHAPE HE WAS IN. DID NOT SEE DAVONTE: THE NORTH CAROLINA STATE HIGHWAY PATROL BACKS THAT CLAIM UP IN THEIR CRASH REPORT. IT SAYS THE SCHOOLS BUS’S STOP SIGN AND STOP ARM WERE NOT OUT WHEN A.J. WAS HIT. GEORGIE SAYS WHEN SHE HIT HIM, SHE STOPPED AND STAYED IN THE CAR UNTIL POLICE ARRIVED.>>I’M SORRY IT HAPPENED, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO ABOUT IT. DAVONTE: BEFORE THE CRASH, SHE THOUGHT THE BUS WAS STOPPING, ASSUMING IT WAS TRYING TO MAKE TO A TURN. TODAY, WE ASKED HER WHO SHE THOUGHT WAS AT FAULT. RIGHT NOW, SHE DOESN’T KNOW.>>I REALLY DON’T THINK I WAS AT FAULT, BECAUSE I WASN’T SPEEDING AND THERE WAS NO STOP ARM OUT. BUT STILL, I HIT THE CHILD. BUT I DIDN’T MEAN TO, BUT WHAT CAN I DO? DAVONTE: AND THE CRASH RECONSTRUCTION PROCESS DID FINISH UP TODAY. WE ARE TOLD THAT THE CRUISE WILL MEET WITH THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY TO FIGURE OUT IF ANY CHARGES
