AFTER AN EARLY MORNING FIRE IN
SANTA CRUZ. THE FIRE BROKE OUT JUST AFTER

FROM THE SECOND STORY OF AUTO
ONE DEALERSHIP ON THE CORNER OF
WATER STREET AND POPLAR. FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED WITHIN A
MINUTE OF THE INITIAL CALL. DOZENS WERE ON SCENE BATTLING
THE BLAZE. THANKFULLY THE BUSINESS WAS
CLOSED AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE
AND NO ONE WAS INSIDE. THERE ARE NO INJURIES.>>WE HAD A LOT OF GOOD FIRE. — A LOT OF GOOD HELP FROM OUR
NEIGHBORS AND COOPERATING
AGENCIES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY. SANTA CRUZ INITIALLY RESPONDED
AND CENTRAL FIRE WAS HERE AND
SCOTTS VALLEY FIRE DEPARTMENT
WAS HERE AND FELTON ALSO SENT
SOME HELP DOWN TO US, TOO. CHRISTOPHER: FIREFIGHTERS SAY
THE BUILDING DOES NOT HAVE A

THEY MAY NOT LEARN THE CAUSE. BUT THEY ARE HOPING TO AT LEAST
FIND OUT WHERE IT STARTED. HERE’S A LOOK AT MORE OF THE
DAMAGE. THE FIRE BURNT SO DEEP INSIDE
THE SHOWROOM OF THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD TO BRING IN HEAVY
EQUIPMENT TO TEAR THE BUILDING
APART. PIECE BY PIECE TO EXTUINGUISH
EACH SECTION. AND MAKE SURE ALL HOT SPOTS WERE
PUT OUT. FOUR VEHICLES SUFFERED MAJOR
DAMAGE. JAGUARS AND BMWS. THERE WERE ABOUT FOUR CARS IN
THE MECHANICS BAY THAT ONLY
SUFFERED MINOR DAMAGE. FIREFIGHTERS WERE ABLE TO REMOVE
AND SAVE 30 CARS FROM THE LOT
WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE
BUILDING OWNER AND TENANT. MOST OF THE BUILDING WILL BE
COMPLETELY TORN DOWN WITH THE

  1. FYI… There was another structure fire at the Clearview mobile home park just feet away from the last arson that started in Depot Park early Sunday morning (10/28/18). Is KSBW no longer reporting on the serial arsonist still at large in Santa Cruz? I guess not… I'm sure it's not glamorous to report about homeless, drug-induced pyromaniacs terrorizing our town. SCPD is "investigating" it, but when we call 911 about these fires it somehow still takes 15 minutes for SCPD to show up to the scene of the crime (yes, we timed it). It takes literally less than 5 minutes to slowly walk from the SCPD station to Depot Park. I guess KSBW wouldn't want to paint a very real picture of the lack of effort put forth from local law enforcement.
