FROM RACINE COUNTY, THE SUSPECTS CRASHED, BUT STILL MANAGED TO GET AWAY. PIECES OF DEBRIS SIT SCATTERED ALONG THE PORTION OF I-94. THERE WAS A HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT. ONE OF THE VEHICLES ENDING UP JUST UNDER THIS SIGN. RACINE COUNTY SHERIFF CHRIS SCHMALING SAYS HE AND HIS DEPUTIES HAD SECONDS TO RESPOND. FIVE STOLEN CARS SPEEDING UP THE INTERSTATE AT 115 MILES AN HOUR WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS ON LATE SUNDAY NIGHT. THE THIEVES HAD STRUCK A DEALERSHIP IN ILLINOIS, LUCKY MOTORS IN LIBERTYVILLE. AS INVESTIGATORS FROM MULTIP AGENCIES PIECED TOGETHER THE CRIME, RACINE COUNTY DEPUTIE ENDED UP DEALING WITH A CRASH — ONE OF THE STOLEN CARS RAN OVER SOME SPIKE STRIPS, AND SLAMMED INTO AN INNOCENT DRIVER’S CAR. THIS WAS VERY FLUID AND FAST. WHEN THEY HIT THE STREETS, THEY IMMEDIATELY HIT THE VEHICLE NEXT TO THEM, SLAMMING INTO THE WALL. THE DOORS IMMEDIATELY OPENED, AND THEY RAN.>>THE SHERIFF SAYS K9 UNITS TRACKED THE SUSPECTS FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED YARDS, BUT THEY EVENTUALLY GOT AWAY.
