The Dream Car video is coming but because it is a very special video for me, I want to make sure it is amazing, so it is taking a little longer than I thought to film and edit (you will see why when it comes out). In the meantime, I filmed and edited this water pump video to bridge the gap. I actually edited this video during my 2 week long road trip where I had meet-ups for you guys in Cincinnati, Indy, and Chicago! As always thank you for the support and stay tuneeeeeed!
P.S. Here is a link to the first every DIY video I did on my channel to help people: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTl6UNMKjLc

  2. I’d put thread locker on all of them regardless. Just because they don’t leak now, doesn’t mean something won’t happen down the road. Also, I like how you use your torque wrench to torque all the bolts down. That’s what a real mechanic should do.

  3. I did this to my dad's 96 Mercedes C180. It was 35€. 500€ in the Mercedes. Well, ¡try it fixers! Much easier than it looks.

  4. I’ve literally set for hrs and watched many videos. Just took my H2 hummer apart namely the rear breaks and suspension all by myself. All new parts going in and I’ve never ever worked on a truck this size. Saved probably thousands of dollars already. After this moving in to the front of the car. Feels good.

  5. i hope someone who watches this wont take his radiator cap off at operating temperature because then he will have a very bad day

  6. Hey Chris, question: when you remove the spill proof funnel towards the end, does some air still get inside the system from the little time it takes to remove the funnel and put the cap back on the coolant? Thanks in advance!

  7. Hi Chris fix I was hoping that you might be able to help me diagnose the problem I'm having and that is when I give it the gas not a lot just a little all the sudden I hear squeaking in the vehicle like in the engine area so I was hoping maybe you'd have a tip on how to diagnose that and then when I let off the gas of course it goes away thank you

  8. + ChrisFix
Hey Chris my car overheating gage shoots up only a few minutes after starting the engine. I would think it would take some time before the needle shoots up so I’m wondering it could be more than a thermostat issue. Does that sound like a water pump or a Head Gasket issue?
    Thnx

  9. you know the world is fucked when a stranger has to teach you about cars cuz some dads are pointless and lazy asf😒

  10. Just replaced mine a week ago, but noticed a small leak from the gasket. It was a paper one so I changed it with a steel one, and the leak is still there. What could be the problem?

  11. I really really hate how you did not at all whatsoever in your video hold them side by side. I was anxiously hoping you were going to hold them side-by-side for comparison

  12. Hey Chris, thanks for all your videos. I’ve learned to do things from changing my oil, struts, brakes, etc thanks to you! I have a question do you think having the wrong coolant in my car can cause it to burn oil? And even the coolant itself

  13. Man it surprises me how much mechanics rip you off a 100 dollar part and 300 dollars for labor we had to get my saturn outlooks water pump replaced and it was almost 500 dollars

  14. Chris checking into a hotel.
Clerk: Good afternoon sir, first and last name.
    Chris: Uhh Chris Fix.
    Clerk: Chris Hicks?
    Chris: No. Fix. F-I-X.

  15. I watched alot of your videos and i appreciate the work and your advise but I always wondered how do u know all the torque ibs for each bolt and how tight the bolt should be?

  16. coincidentally i just did my ranger water pump. The water pump was pretty easy to get off but the gasket material took twice as long to remove from the engine than the entire water pump. Brake clean didnt work that well. Ended up using 3000 sand paper. Anybody got ideas for getting the stubborn gasket off in future?

  17. If I could start my life over I would go into the automotive repair trade.

I have made a lot of money and helped a lot of people as an electrician but auto mechanic is a lot more relevant to life (if that makes sense) and more related to my passion.

    And I love troubleshooting.

  18. Chrisfix son: Hey dad look I installed a new water pump.

Chris:Did you torque to specifications and use medium strength thread locker?

    Chrisfix son: No.

    Chris; Aight Imma head out.

  19. damn, changing a water pump on that jag is easy af, sadly my old car wasn't nearly as easy as the pump was located behind the timing belt, alternator belt amongst other crap
oh btw chris unless im blind i don't think ive seen a video of you changing a timing belt or tensioner, would appreciate a tutorial when you can

  20. How do you dislike a. Video that saves you $700.? Thanks to YouTube and a neighbors socket extension I saved $1000 changing out ignition coils on my son’s car. The satisfaction of working on a car with my son was priceless

  21. Ita the same with chrystler 300. 1100 quote to change the water pump. The water pump is mounted on the block behind the timing belt cover. Kinda sucks to change but worth the 100 actually spent to replace.

  22. Always use RTV even if you get a gasket. Just keep the provided gasket. That way when your wife takes the car to a mechanic because you can't get to it you get a nice phone call from the shop telling you to take the demon back.

  23. Went down to a shop to work on my car and messed up a little bit but the mechanic showed me what to do just like what chrisfix actually did and say

  24. If you had told me a jags water pump was that easy to get to..i wouldnt have believed you. I cant beleive it.

  25. If the water pump goes out can it stop coolant from being pulled into an engine? cause i got my first car and i think the water pump is out

  26. It is better to repair popular and frequently used cars rather than the Jaguar that is not widely used.Owners of such luxury cars do not care about the costs of repair and do not think to repair their cars themselves

  27. I called the parts shop but they said they didn't have any wooder pumps in stock. Guess it's going to the dealer.
