  1. What engine is that and how much horse power does it make. What kind of transmission is it hooked to? This thing is so cool.

  2. you can actually hear the tires grip while the chassis is flexing and bouncing a little as it goes down the track, that's wild! grip.. grip.. grip… grip…. grip……. grip………….

  3. I noticed alot of people asking what engine. Pretty sure its a General Electric T58 helicopter turboshaft engine, about 1250hp.

  4. It's a turbo shaft engine the shaft is connected to a transmission not a turbo jet engine where the exhaust is used as the thrust.

  5. The lack of a scatter shield on the engine case is downright scary! When a jet engine shells out, it explodes 360 degrees.

  6. Back in 83' I was in 6th grade… I discovered ART ARFONS. changed my life forever. Jet engine in a car…. WoW

  7. In 50yrs. of attending drag races…..even back when they had flag starters and rails were push started on the big end and did their turnaround at the Christmas tree….I've never seen a jet-rail or jet-anything route their power thru an axle and to the wheels. This thing is just cool as hell. He's probably gotten this into the 6's, I would imagine??

  8. IS TIM ARFONS FATHER WALTER OR ART MY STEP DAD TOM GREEN BROKE WORLD LAND SPEED RECORD WITH WALTER BUT WAS FRIENDS WITH BOTH WALTER AND ART

  9. A a young child,my Dad took me to the Ramona,Ca. "drag strip and I got to watch art burn down the "timing stand" nd a chain link fence that dared to get too close. Burned paint off 3 cars in the pit area when it fired. An Addict was born!

  10. Wow….I have never seen anything like this! A jet turbine wheel driven dragster! That's impressive! I guess the hardest part to figure out is how to get the output shaft power to the wheels?

  11. reading art arfons book in school i immediately loved jet cars. this thing is obviously detuned for fun passes low 7s at 197mph. mabe 60% 1400hp
it should run relatively care free if given proper maintenance. love it wish i still had my altered.
