Korea logged record auto part exports in the
first half of the year backed by record shipments of automobiles to overseas markets.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy says auto parts shipments amounted to 13-and-a-half
billion U.S. dollars in the January to June period, up more than five-percent from the
same period last year. Officials attribute the solid figures to record
auto exports of more than 25-and-a-half billion dollars in the first half of 2014.
There’s also increasing demand for auto parts that are used in after-sales service and providing
parts to foreign car manufacturers such as BMW and Chrysler.
The ministry says it expects auto AND auto part exports to continue rising in the second
half of the year.
