Review Hot Wire Automotive Key Programmer | Mr. Locksmith Video

– Hi, I’m Terry. – I’m Randy. – We’re here today to just
show you the Hot Wire. I absolutely love this product. It was one of the first
programmers I bought. Again, we use two major ones. We use the MVP Pro and
we use the Hot Wire. – The thing about the Hot Wire is it is PC based. It goes through a box, of course. It plugs into your OPD unit. It’s the most idiot proof
program you can find out there. – It’s such.. – You can’t make a mistake. – a simple interface you don’t
even need the book really. – You don’t need a manual. It doesn’t exist. All you do is pick out
your year, make, and model and plug it in. Turn the key to run and hit enter. – The interface is unbelievably good. I absolutely love this. For beginners or automotive locksmiths. – For a beginner or a
professional it’s all about time and this unit is gonna you through. any unit out there that
it’ll do in short order. It’s just that it won’t do every unit. That’s for sure. – That’s the thing is the
MVP Pro does more units. This is easier, quicker to use but again we had the other day where the MVP Pro wouldn’t
program a vehicle. The Hot Wire did it. – Yeah in the past I’ve had
two Mustangs side by side, same year, same model. The Hot Wire would program one but wouldn’t program the other. The MVP Pro would program the other unit but wouldn’t program the one
that the Hot Wire would do. That’s a constant battle with cars. It’s just gonna happen. – If you do enough cars,
you’re gonna run across that. It’s not anything unusual. – No. – I don’t know why they can have all sorts
of excuses, whatever. We’re in the field. We’re making keys to
cars every single day. This is what we find and we can’t do without two programmers. – Nobody can. – I don’t know how you could. That’s why we keep on
trying some of the offshore versions just to see how they go. We’re always evaluating them. – Again, if you are starting out and you’re coming into
a good standard unit, this is the way to go. It’s simple, it’s easy, it’s to the point, and you can’t make a mistake. You really cannot make a mistake. – I love the tablet based ’cause it’s all in one unit. We haven’t upgraded to that yet. Probably our next one. – You know what, it all
depends on which way we go. More locksmiths it depends on probably. A tablet base is the easier way to go. – It goes right into the NASTF? – No. NSTF is a totally different ballgame. – No, I think they
integrated it in didn’t they? – No, but you can’t get
NASTF membership without going through the police
checks and everything. – Yeah, but I think if… I’ll have to double check that. We’ll get back to you. The Hot Wire, the tablet,
with the computer is easy. I really wish we could just have one unit per service truck. – It’ll never happen. – It hopefully will. I’m hoping for the holy grail. – Nobody has done it yet and with all the changes
in cars that happen, nobody can keep up on everything. – We’re also subscription based on this. There’s two models. One is monthly subscription
or buy the software. – You just buy it out. The nice thing about
subscription based programs is you’re always getting the
most up-to-date programs. If something new comes out, you’ve got it. Fiat came into the
country a couple years ago and everyone’s clamoring for Fiat. The software is pretty expensive. Now with the manufacturer’s
coming up with Fiat software, I get it automatically. I don’t have to buy it. I don’t have to pay for it. – We actually have two units. I have my unit. I actually bought the software originally. This unit, when we got it, we went totally subscription based. Monthly subscription. What’s the monthly subscription on this? – It’s about the same as the MVP. – So they’re very similar. – $2.99 – I will probably upgrade mine to the tablet and the subscription based. – Then you’ve got everything. – Then we’ve absolutely everything. Again, I’m in this real dilemma. I would love to have one machine. My favorite interface is the Hot Wire. – It won’t do Volkswagen. It won’t do a lot of the cars out there that we want to be able to do. – Now in their defense,
Volkswagen drives us insane. – Volkswagen drives everybody insane. – No matter what anybody
says, we haven’t found. There’s only a one-stop
solution that seems to work. We’ll talk about that in another video. I’ve only found one way. It’s super expensive. However, we keep on looking
at some of the other products. Albrights. – Albrights… – We wish the Zed Full could do it. – Well again, they’re saying it can. – We’re gonna try it. We’re gonna find out. We’re gonna buy a subscription. we’re gonna give it a try. This is all about Hot Wire. Customer service is fantastic. We’ve had a great time
dealing with these guys. I love it. My favorite. – You can’t go too far wrong. – You can’t go too far on this. However, if you’re doing
lots and lots of vehicles, you’re gonna need two systems. – Yeah, you’re gonna find no one system will do everything. – If the manufacturer’s want to disagree, I’m waiting for that holy grail. That one machine. – Find the forest, we’ll use it. – Okay, thank you very much. I hope you enjoyed watching this video. Subscribe to my channel. Also, visit my website and you can see what online
locksmith training I have for beginners, intermediate, and advanced. As well as my covert methods of entry and my non-destructive methods of entry.

  1. Wow. I watched this twice and have no idea what this does, no estimate of intial investment nor subscription cost.

You may want to take another look at promoting this, whatever it is.

  2. ???????? I absolutely love your videos, but this one made zero sense to me. I honestly have no idea what it is you are trying to say.

  3. Can't claim it's the one machine to do it all and probably not suited best for a big Locksmith Company like you but I have the Smart Box and love it. Its token-based with free updates all tokens are $10 does not take 2 tokens to read pin can you get billed at the end of the month so you don't have to invest heavily in tokens in advance. For smaller locksmith in remote areas trying to get into the automotive business you cannot go wrong with a Smart Box

  4. Back in the day, many, many years ago, I invested heavily on Hotwire. This was about the time the original T-code and MVP were going strong. I don't like AD, at all. Now look at it. Sure, the Hotwire does some vehicles. It won't do a 2011 Ford F150. I don't they (Keyless Ride) have the money, and/ or resources to develop new software. I liked the product, but if they can't keep up with current vehicles, than what good is it? I use other tools, I'm not going to list them here. But KR needs to get with the program, maybe they could increase their following.

  5. So, where can I get it? How much does it cost? Are you going to do a review where you actually program a key?

  6. hello sir am a locksmith and an apprentice in auto electricity and looking for a course that can support my career internationally thanks

  7. Great information, thank you. Even with or without the subscription, is use of the token system involved?

    Volkswagen, huh? You don't say.
