Commentator: “Just when you thought the inspection was completed, the final stage is entered.
The road test is an intricate part of the Honda
certified used inspection process. The checklist is vast when it comes to a road test and there
are lots of areas that the driver will focus on.
Your Honda dealer has already chosen a route with varied driving conditions. The vehicle
is driven in areas that promotes a few stops and starts, and
then, the vehicle heads out for a little highway driving to get a good feel on how it takes
to the roads. While driving, a number of different items
are checked. The brakes are checked for noise, vibration, and general braking effort. Transmission
is checked for shift quality, and the driveline is checked
for any unnecessary noise. The cruise control operation is tested. The speedometer and odometer
are checked for overall operation. The heater, defroster, and air conditioning,
are all checked to ensure proper operation and performance. The temperature gauge is
monitored to ensure the engine stays in proper operating temperature.
The steering is then checked to make sure only the proper driver effort is required.
Also to ensure the vehicle does not drift while driving, or has
any other alignment concerns. Highway speed are needed to confirm that there are no vibrations
or excessive noise from the tires or other components like
axle shafts, CB joints, wheel bearings, or brake rotors. Even though a mechanic is more
than qualified to road test the vehicle, the service manager
is the one who will give the final approval, and sign off. Once they are completely confident
the quality of the New Honda certified used vehicle, it will
then, become available to you.” [music]
