JOINING US LIVE THIS MORNING TO TALK ABOUT THESE IMPROVEMENTS IS PATRICE BELL MERCADEL, THE DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE RTA. FIRST OFF CAN YOU GIVE US AN OVERVIEW OF THE CHANGES GOING INTO PLACE? Effective September 21, 2014 the Regional Transit OVERVIEW OF THE CHANGES GOING INTO PLACE? Effective September 21, 2014 the Regional Transit Authority will implement changes to bus service. This expanded and improved bus service will restore bus lines, add new bus service, and improve service reliability. HOW MUCH DID IT COST TO PUT THE NEW PLAN INTO EFFECT? WE DON’T HAVE TIME TO GO THROUGH EVERY CHANGE, BUT WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MAJOR ROUTES PEOPLE WILL NOTICE A DIFFERENCE AT? AND WILL COMMUTERS SEE CHANGES IN BUS LINE NUMBERS OR NEW NUMBERS? Expansion Changes Include: The restoration of bus lines, new bus lines, routes changes and timetable changes. New And Restored Bus Lines Will Serve: Algiers and Federal City, New Orleans East, Leonidas, Hollygrove, Mid- City, Treme, Gentilly, Seventh Ward, St. Roch, Desire, Gentilly Woods and Pontchartrain Park. To Improve Service Reliability: Three existing bus lines will either have route changes 10-Tchoupitoulas or timetable changes Line 11-Magazine and Line 27 Louisiana.
