  1. I'm a Senior Field Service technician for an independent copier dealer here in Tennessee and it's been my experience that there are some dealers that will do a quick visual inspection, give the machine a general cleaning, then turn it around and sell it as "Refurbished".

When we do a refurb of a copier, our technicians check all of the internal parts (Drums, Developer, Transfer Components, Fixing components) and if any of them are close to needing replacement or rebuilding, we take care of it.

Another thing we do is test ALL of the functions of the machine…. Print, Copy, Scan and Fax to make certain they will function as they should for the customer. We will also visually inspect all of the external covers and clean them….or if necessary, replace them. The customer receives a machine that although may be used, we know it will function as if it were new.

Check the Better Business Bureau website for any customer ratings regarding service of whoever you're planning on purchasing from. You might pay a little more for the machine or for the service, but the old saying holds true…. "You get what you pay for."

Many thanks to AIS for this channel!! . It's nice to see a company that cares about their customers, and tries to educate them on making smart buying decisions.
