  2. I haven't yet found a cheap reader that can do Suzuki's SDL protocol. At least the ABS and airbag modules are accessible and those are the most likely to throw codes when the car battery fails, but the reason I want one is simply to reset the check engine light after replacing the battery.

  3. Since Scotty had his car engine running while doing this video, it would have been funny had someone gotten into the car and driven it away while Scotty was preoccupied doing his video! 🤣🤣🤣

  4. I just signed up for the Thinkcar kickstarter the other day, before I checked out the Blue Driver. Could you tell me why you like Thinkcar over Blue Driver, please? You mentioned modules. Does Thinkcar check EVERY module?
B.D. catches all the modules on my vehicle, except the TPMS and BCM. I really like the codes database and known fixes of B.D. This seems to be an advantage over T.C. But, a potential problem with B.D., down the road, could be that when sales trail off, customer service could also trail off (because they already have your money.) T.C. will want the yearly subscriptions to continue. The "fixes," however, seem to be only from the Thinkcar owners' community, rather than a mechanics database. Thinkcar Is supposed to have advanced manufacturer code info (which might roughly correlate to known fixes,) however. Is this correct? I got the info from a comparison on the kickstarter page.
    Thanks

  5. It does things that some of your 5000 dollar scan things cannot do…? If they are indeed for scanning OBD, then I have this hard to believe.

  6. Not to be a buzzkill, but the Torque app has been available for quite some time in the playstore….$4.95. I then got the plug in adapter on ebay for about $10. Guess they didn't want the "As seen on TV" stigma.

  7. Does some one know if Works for smart (automated manual transmission ) clutch adjustment ? Is only abatible in Mercedes Benz date diagnostic tool.

  8. Both Thinkcar 1 and 1 S requires annual fee $9.95 per VIN for Full Vehicle Health Scan Report & Real-Time Remote Diagnostic

  9. Both Thinkcar 1 and 1 S requires annual fee $9.95 per VIN for Full Vehicle Health Scan Report & Real-Time Remote Diagnostic

  10. Can we send you that code and you diagnose remotely ??? I am ready to spend 100 bucks if you can do that . 🙂 It is showing 100 bucks now.

  11. Been thinking about getting one. Son changed his tires on his jeep and now the speedometer is off and I think it would let you program it to correct.

  12. Makes me tempted to buy a simple reliable old car from before 1990, or at least a simpler, reliable new car like the Honda fit with a stick shift. If I can learn to drive a stick at 68 years old.

  13. $59 "our prices are Insane" love the channel now I know what the most updated obd is. And knowing is half the battle. GI Joe.

  14. I do all my own work because I am poor, yet very capableand mechanically and electrically inclined….but I see a lot of frustrated people, blaming mechanics for the high cost of repairs. What they don't realize is that most of the labor the mechanic charges, goes to taxes insurance and rent. Most people have no idea how expensive it is to run a business in the America.

  15. Their app on google play has 8 reviews and rating 3.5 stars. Also the app gains access to the phone gps location, microphone, contacts, access to make phone calls and many more. Thank you but, no thank you.

  16. I have one better buy a micro mechanic at your local CVS and purchase OBD Fusion from the Google play store for 5 bucks. Total investement 19.99 for the micro mechanic and 4.99 for OBD Fusion.

OBD Fusion is a great app. Check it out.

  17. From their site: "Both Thinkcar 1 and 1 S requires annual fee $9.95 per VIN for Full Vehicle Health Scan Report & Real-Time Remote Diagnostic"

    Always a catch.

  18. Hey scotty I'm looking into a 99 Dodge dakota 4wd. It has a slight ticking noise and needs brakes. Is this a good deal for a first time vehicle? Keep in mind I can get it for free from my uncle.
Love the vids by the way ✌

  19. All vehicles should have an easy accessible self diagnostic system built in 🙄
Most mechanics don’t want to use your report, they prefer to use their own to get more money.

  20. Great video! Looks like a great device! I'm looking for one that will convert my 1993 Nissan Gloria's "Nissan Consult" to OBD – any suggestions?

  21. Absolutely adore you're videos from other side of the world (Sri Lanka). Some resources you advise to use does not exist here 🤣 Any way keep up the great work. If yo know a way for me to get this OBD scanner please let me know. Thank you! God Bless!

  22. That new intro is the sht.
I use the Bluedriver per your recommendation and I'm fairly happy with it. For the amount of knowledge I have, even Bluedriver is a little over my head when it comes to some of the live data. Thx Scotty.

  23. Does anyone know anything about the team behind Thinkcar? I was excited to fund the Kickstarter until I checked out their website and saw lots of poorly translated English. Their about page says “The company was incorporated in Los Angeles, USA.” Something about it doesn’t evoke a feeling of confidence when hooking this up to my vehicle and piping its data unto the Internet.

I’m hitting pause on this one.

  24. But does it do gm & powerstroke balance rates?! Torque app with Bluetooth obd2 adaptors have been around for years

  25. Honestly it doesn't seem to be any different than other products out there. I use Torque Pro in conjunction with an OBDII Bluetooth reader. It tells me a TON of information. Anything else I need I use ForScan and a OBDII dongle with a switch. Yes I know its ONLY for Ford vehicles, but it has EVERYTHING one of the more expensive scan tools has. The ForScan software is FREE and the dongle is less than 30 bucks.

  26. Oh Scotty, what have you done? Promoting products that have not come out yet. And the MFR is asking for donations to help launch their product? They included this video in their promo home page. And….their site is down. Too early to call and their facebook page is still up so who knows. I just wanted to test the conspiracy theory waters.

  27. Our 1971 Chevy c5 Truck sat unused for 2 years. It was such a relief to start it yesterday – hook up the battery, pour some gas into the carburetor, and turn the key- (there’s something said for simplicity!)

  28. Hey Scotty I know you probably won't see this because of all the people that watch your channel but this is for anyone else tht might read this, I recommend the Autel ap200 that does the same as the thinkcar and it also has some bidirectional functionality

  29. I know this guy has alot of subscribers and has been around a while, but all that bouncing around and hand movement, wierd voice fluctuations…I don't get it.

  30. 421 of dislikes. I wonder. 421 mechanics that just saw Scotty teaching how to make the repairs cheaper? Beam me up Scotty….to the future!

  31. Better than a scan tool. This has the power of AI because the computing is done on a server. The potential here is awesome. You should be able to look at history, trends, changes to operation, location, speed of car, all parameters. Hope that they offer an interface on the computer when you get home when you can choose what parameeter to look at. Looks like the annual fee is $ 9.90 per year per the website. I would pay more if it recorded data often.

  32. Audi wanted £40.00 to diagnose each fault i had four but knew it was because my rear pads needed changing.I used carista which was very cheap and also allowed me to out electronic parking brake into maintenance mode.

  33. Pls why I'm always having p0303 and p0103 code on 2007 camry I ve changed air mass sensor and new plug the code keeps popping anytime a drive for about 120km

  34. Couldn't get hyperlinks to work on their website. Couldn't find out how to get the app or dongle. Not enough information there. Couldn't find it on Play Store. Maybe too soon to promote.
