THE DEPARTMENT OF CENTRAL REVENUE SAYS A FLORIDA CAR DEALER SOLD STILL TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN SALES TAX THAT HE COLLECTED. FOR THREE YEARS, HE MISSED TAX PAYMENTS AND COULDN’T EXPLAIN WHAT WENT. SHANNON BUTLER HAS MORE. ACCORDING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE, CARMILO EZALTE OPERATES A CAR DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THE INVESTIGATOR HE ADVERTISES THE VEHICLES ON CRAIGSLIST. BUT THE STATE FOUND HE SOLD MORE CARS THAN HE FILED MORE SALES TAX FOR. HE COULDN’T SAY IF HE HAD SPENT THE MONEY WERE NOT AND RECORDS SHOW THROUGH SALES FROM 2018 HE HAD COLLECTED ALMOST $70,000 IN SALES TAX, BUT THE STATE COULD ONLY FIND ABOUT $16,700 SUBMITTED. MAYBE, MORE THAN $53,000 AND ACCOUNTED FOR. BUT THE INVESTIGATOR SAID HE HAD MORE THAN $1 MILLION IN HIS ACCOUNTS. ENOUGH TO PAY.
