Your Car Has a Hidden Kill Switch

Your Car Has a Hidden Kill Switch

rev up your engines,
Jamie h4 says I was driving my car in a highway and hit a big bump and it
stopped running, a lot of cars especially American cars, have a safety device and
if you get in an accident and hit something hard,
it turns the fuel pump off, so it won’t pump fuel that if you get in a wreck and a
fire starts it just keeps pumping fuel on the fire, check to see if your vehicle
has one of those, a lot of them have it in the trunk and there’s just the reset
button that you push, you go in the trunk you push it and here it go click and
then the car starts running again
because if it’s not that and you it a bump and the car dies,
there are so many things that can happen electronically, a weak connector and it
fell off, a really old car and your wiring is wearing, you hit a bump and
then that makes a worn piece of wire touch the frame and then short out,
there’s a lot of bad things that can happen but you want to pray that it’s one of
those and just needs to be reset, I see that happen all the time,
Joey who says my 2014 Honda Accord is a great car, but it’s seeping a tiny
amount of transmission fluid around the seals what should I do, the most common
thing would be to replace the seals but you have to take both axles off, and put
new seals in, if it’s seeping a tiny amount you might try some of this at 205 reseal,
Amazon sells it, put a bottle in the transmission and it can rejuvenate the
seals, here’s something that a lot of people don’t understand, if your fluid
gets low, your driving the vehicle, it might run okay for quite some time, being
low like that will wear the inside of the transmission and I’ve had customers
come to me with the transmission that’s slip and not working right and I’d check
it and say you’re almost out of fluid it’s leaked out, and then it wore it all out
and you when I put new fluid and it didn’t work anymore, so you want to
always make sure you have it full of fluid, that’s very important on modern
cars, because most of the modern ones don’t have dipstick so you can’t even
check how much fluid is in it, so do make a point of check them to see if
anything’s leaking on the transmission, if it
is definitely you want to fix it before you get a serious problem from running it
low on fluid, pray says scotty toyota lexus is now
gonna build the lexus hybrid in the cambridge plant ontario, what’s
your opinion, well my wife’s matrix her old matrix 2007
it was made in Cambridge Ontario and it’s one of the best vehicles we ever
had they do a good job there, and they have
been building there for a while it was the only place in the world outside of
Japan when they were building Lexus products, I’m not a hybrid fan myself,
because hybrids they’re very high-tech as they age they can cost a fortune, it’s
just so high-tech most guys don’t know how to repair them, I would more or less
say, hey just get a regular one the regular ones work perfectly fine, there’s
not the wrong with a regular Lexus and if you find out the small amount of gas
mileage you get better with the hybrid versus what it costs if you keep a car
for hundreds of thousands of miles, you probably go for a regular car,
you never recoup your investment rebellion King 101 says Scotty
I want to buy reliable affordable sedan with a decent v6 engine any
thoughts on the 2008 Pontiac g6, yeah stay far away from it, that’s one of the
cars that brought Pontiac to extinction now the engine in it is okay, they
didn’t have any problem with a v6 engine if you changed the oil they could run a
really long time, automatic transmissions were garbage, costs a fortune to fix, the
electronics will horrible, the a/c systems the compressors blew up all the
time, I would definitely not advise anybody to buy one of those, unless
they’re absolutely nuts about it and they got it dirt cheap and it was still
running good, they’re not dependable cars in the long run, that really is one of
the cars the g6 that helped Pontiac go extinct, James says I’ve been wondering with
Scotty being an honest and famous youtuber mechanic, does he take
appointments years in advance, well here I am, no I don’t, I rarely do it more than
a week in advance, I’m a mechanic to my
costumers, I treat them with respect they treat me
with respect, and I don’t want to make people wait too long they gotta get the car
fixed right, anybody that starts making appointments as a mechanic really too
far in advance, their gonna end up going out of business because their customers want
their cars fixed now, they don’t want to wait that long to do it, it’s even like
I’ve been to doctors and when they do this BS they can see you in six months that’s
the end of them I’ll go to another doctor, they’re a doctor they should be
ready for problems that people have, you got a health problem you want to get it
fixed, what if it gets worse, you know if your car gets laid up, you can
always rent another car, but you can’t rent another body, so
if you never want to miss another one of my new car repair videos, remember to
ring that Bell

  2. Very informative I really like Scotty's videos. He does a very good job of explaining everything highly recommended watching his videos for people who do not know how to work on cars myself I'm an A.S.E MASTER CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN. Thank you Scotty for putting everything in layman's terms.

  3. Hey Scotty! How you doing? I have a question for you, what can you say about the synthetic oils that aren't really synthetic, they have synthetic additives but to my knowledge even do they say full synthetic they are not, unless it says 100% synthetic, which there are only a few companies that make 100% synthetic like Amsoil, thanks for your time and for everything that you teach us 👍👍

  4. Hi Scotty,

I am about to purchase a brand new Toyota Fortuner. I have two options: 2.7 petrol or 2.8 diesel variant?

I'll buy whichever you'll lay your hands on.

    Thanks,
    Zill Niazi

  5. :22 NOT A DODGE 350 3/4 TON, I HAD A SNOW PLOW RUN A RED LIGHT DECEMBER 28TH 2018 AT 1:40PM AND SMASH RIGHT INTO ME WITH THE PLOW WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, PLOW MADE CONTECT FROM IT'S SIDE RIGHT INTOT HE PASSENGER FRONT WHEEL AND SHEERED OFF THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT JUST INFRONT OF THE RADIATOR…TRUCK WAS STILL RUNNING AND JUST FINE WITH NO LEAKS OR HICCUPS OR PROBLEMS OR DASH LIGHTS FOR A FULL 30 SECONDS AFTER THAT.
THIS DODGE DIDN'T LIVE UP TO IT'S NAME VS A FORD F-450 WITH A SPLIT V BOSS ROLLING PLOW, IT FAILED TO DODGE.

  6. Had a customer who owned an Explorer. He couldn't back out of his driveway without the kill switch triggering. I had him sign a waiver and bypassed it. He was happy as a clam.

  7. Hey scotty ,

I was looking into buying a 2007 ford mustang v6 with 104k miles for 4.5k any thoughts

  8. Scotty l am thinking about buying a infinity Q50 . What do you think . Do you think thats a good idea ? The year 2014. 32.000 miles $9.000

  9. Ford engineering sucks. Lets put a kill switch in the trunk or under the dash…. And lets run a dead head fuel system with a sensor that tells a module to turn fuel pump on and off. And lets mount the module on the frame by the rear tires..F150…Found on road dead…

  10. Ford is really big with putting them on their vehicles. I remember finding one on an old '90 Escort that I drove into the ground when I was a kid

  11. Back in the day, my buddy would prank his friend by hitting the drivers side quarter panel with the bottom of his closed fist, and would watch as they tried to start their car. Not friends with the guy anymore, but not for that reason.

  12. I have started to watch all Scotties videos, they are the best entertainment while learning things about cars

  13. Yes , on my 2004 Ford explorer the fuel shut of switch activated after a minor side collision. It's located on passenger side by glove box (right side} on top side panel . Visible, looking under . I've heard simple pot holes,or rough road or even a shopping cart hit on vehicle can trigger switch to shut fuel flow.
